Nonparametric homogeneity tests and multiple change-point estimation for analyzing large Hi-C data matrices

چکیده
We propose a novel nonparametric approach for estimating the location of block boundaries (change-points) of non-overlapping blocks in a random symmetric matrix which consists of random variables having their distribution changing from one block to the other. Our method is based on a nonparametric two-sample homogeneity test for matrices that we extend to the more general case of several groups. We rst provide some theoretical results for the two associated test statistics and we explain how to derive change-point location estimators. Then, some numerical experiments are given in order to support our claims. Finally, our approach is applied to Hi-C data which are used in molecular biology for better understanding the in uence of the chromosomal conformation on the cells functioning.

Tests of homoscedasticity, normality, and missing completely at random for incomplete multivariate data.
Test of homogeneity of covariances (or homoscedasticity) among several groups has many applications in statistical analysis. In the context of incomplete data analysis, tests of homoscedasticity among groups of cases with identical missing data patterns have been proposed to test whether data are missing completely at random (MCAR). These tests of MCAR require large sample sizes n and/or large ...
متن کاملBayesian change point estimation in Poisson-based control charts
Precise identification of the time when a process has changed enables process engineers to search for a potential special cause more effectively. In this paper, we develop change point estimation methods for a Poisson process in a Bayesian framework. We apply Bayesian hierarchical models to formulate the change point where there exists a step < /div> change, a linear trend and a known multip...

Change point estimation in the area of statistical process control has received considerable attentions in the recent decades because it helps process engineer to identify and remove assignable causes as quickly as possible. On the other hand, improving in measurement systems and data storage, lead to taking observations very close to each other in time and as a result increasing autocorrelatio...
متن کاملBayesian Estimation of the Multiple Change Points in Gamma Process Using X-bar chart
The process personnel always seek the opportunity to improve the processes. One of the essential steps for process improvement is to quickly recognize the starting time or the change point of a process disturbance. Different from the traditional normally distributed assumption for a process, this study considers a process which follows a gamma process. In addition, we consider the possibility o...
متن کاملResampling Methods for Homogeneity Tests of Covariance Matrices
Testing hypotheses on covariance matrices has long been of interest in statistics. The test of homogeneity is very often a preliminary step in discriminant analysis, cluster analysis, MANOVA, etc. In this article we propose nonparametric tests which are based on the eigenvalues of the differences among the sample covariance matrices after a common rescaling. Three resampling techniques for calc...
